Our Rivers Are Vital, We Need To Care For Them

We spoke about several things that we as a society should be concerned with.

● Caring for our rivers and water streams. The riparian zones are critically important to the health of the waterways and the aquatic species within them.

● Social division stemming from poorly planned development. We all have to live here, we need to be smarter with the use of our public and private lands.

● Eco Tourism. Tasmania and the Electorate of Braddon is in prime position to invest in our Eco Tourism, providing long term jobs.

In the past I have been privy to the scale of funding the Commonwealth Government has allocated to River education and recovery work. My policy work will include the negotiation of significantly increasing federal funding allocated to Tasmania for our rivers. Tasmania often gets overlooked in this regard.

Braddon has a large rec fishing fraternity and they rely on our rivers and streams to be in prime condition for fishing. The only way we can do that is to educate river users and landholders with many teams on the ground improving farm land with fencing and riparian repair while improving farm productivity.

I have been asked plenty of times already, Braddon needs big funding for big Eco Tourism projects. All of us need to get into the great outdoors for our mental health and well-being. Supercharging our Eco Tourism will only help spur that along.
